Since the program is set up and tracked online, getting started is easy. But before you do, here’s a little helpful information to ensure you get the best results possible.

How the Competition Works
The competition is based on two goals each of us should strive to meet every day – being more physically active and eating more fruits and vegetables.
Everyone within your organization is asked to split up into teams, keep track of how many steps they take and how many servings of fruits and vegetables they enjoy daily. These numbers are then added to the team’s overall progress as their contribution to the team’s success.
- the teams ranking as a percent to goal
- the teams ranking as a percent of improvement
Tracking and Monitoring
Because everything is done via the web, it’s easy to see each team’s results on a regular basis. This becomes a useful tool for those who want to motivate their teams or themselves to pick up the pace.
Team Tools
Each player receives the following items to help them keep track of their goals:
- Balance Book: Can be used to record daily steps and daily servings offline. These steps and servings can then be added to the website daily or weekly for the players’ convenience.
- Bookmark: A handy reminder for each player to enter their data on the website.
- Webpage: Players enter their steps and servings here; track their team and individual progress, as well as access tips, tools and other healthy resources.
Note: Each player will need to become a registered Take Steps website user in order to participate in the program. Participants will need to obtain pedometers, or step counters, to track their steps.
Set-Up Tools
To make our program as easy to implement as possible, we provide you with the following tools:
- Pre-written emails: An entire series of emails designed to help you inform and educate all members of your organization, as well as recruit help from supervisors and support management.
- Daily Tips: These email-ready tips provide everyone with ways to be healthier every day.
- Motivational posters: Can be posted around your organization to raise awareness and excitement.
- Online monitoring: From our website, you can set up and track the success of the competition. You’ll be able to view the progress of teams.
